Sharing of results and experiences
Within the framework of the Forages and Fallows II project: “Expanding the impacts of improved fallows and landscape management for soil fertility and ecosystem services” Grupo Yanapai, the University of Colorado State and the Quilcas Peasant Community organized a forum called: “Contributions to plan the landscape management of the Quilcas community: Sharing of results and experiences”. which was held in the auditorium of the District Municipality of Quilcas, on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. It was attended by the main authorities of the district and the Quilcas Peasant Community, the Representative of the McKnight Foundation in the Andes: Claire Nicklin, the Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of World Neighbors: Lionel Vigil and the members of his Ayacucho team, Regional Government of Junín. Representative of the Regional Department of Environment and Climate Change Management: Walter López, Representative of the Huaytapallana Regional Conservation Area: Henry Chavez, students of the Faculty of Sociology and Anthropology of the National University of Central Peru, Colorado State University: Dr. Steven Fonte, Dr. Steven Vanek, and Katherin Meza. The consulting sociologist of the Ignacio Calcino Project, and the entire community of Quilcas and citizens in general.

The mayor of the district, Lino Rivera, gave some words of welcome and the president of the community Mr. Alejandro Alcocer begun the event. The objective was to present the results of the research projects that were developed in the community during the last years, in addition to presenting the Community Development Plan to make the community aware of the plan and in order to receive input. The event was very succesful, since it met the expectations of the organizers and it succeeded in receiving contributions of the panel and the participants, who highlighted the importance of communal management during this forum.
