ANNUAL MEETING OF THE GUARDIAN ASSOCIATION OF NATIVE POTATOES IN CENTRAL PERU (June 8 &9 2017)
The third annual meeting of the Association of Custodian farmers of Central Peru (AGUAPAN) (founded on July 10,2014) will be held the District Of Laraos, Province of Yauyos, Lima Region during June 8 and 9, 2017. The first day, a meeting between local and visiting farmers to exchange and sell seed and experiences and analysis and reflect problems and opportunities in the conservation of native varieties, in the evening a cultural program in which each region may show of a song, dance, instrument. The second day, The Third annual General Assembly of the Association will be held in the town hall, activities to strengthening the association, and afterwards a visit to the pre-Inca terracing that makes this town famous. The meeting will be attended by 50 guardians of native potatoes representing 50 communities from 5 regions of Peru (Junín, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Pasco and Lima). And local farmers are invited to participate. The Support Group comprised by : INIA, CIP, SPDA and Yanapai collaborate with the organization of this meeting together with the District Municipality of Laraos and the farmers of Community of Laraos.
The Organizing Committee conformed by Marcelo Tiza (President), Aurea Mendoza (Vice President), Bertha Naupay (Treasurer), Elmer Chávez and Victor; The support group; Municipal district and community of Laraos extend the invitation to all interested parties in conservation of the great diversity of native potatoes of the central region of Peru.
