On July 10 a meeting took place in Huancayo where 43 farmers met who maintain over 50 varieties of native potatoes with a threefold purpose:
- To create an association whose purpose is to strengthen inidviauld and collective management of native potatoes,
- At the same time create a practical scheme of «benefit sharing» with social responsibility funds received from Dutch company which improves and markets potatoes: HZPC and
- To comply with clause 9 of the International Treaty of plant genetic resource, which mentions that farmers who maintaining native varieties must be recognized and should share benefits.

The formation of the association was supported by 4 institutions: CIP, INIA, the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA) and Yanapai. The meeting was held in at INIA Huancayo. 43 farmers each representing a different community attended, the name was selected by majority vote. Also a Board of Directors was selected by majority vote which shall meet at least 3 times a year for the 2014-2015 period:
